From my previous analysis' of videos I can see that for a video to be successful it needs to fulfill its purpose of promoting a single. To make it successful it need to attract to the target audience and make people want to download or buy the single.
A typical music video consists of many conventions that each in turn help to promote the song. These include 1. Appearances from the artist/band, this helps to create an iconic appeal, so people instantly know exactly who the artist is. 2. If the video is relevant to the lyrics, the video makes much more sense and therefore makes it more suitable for the audience to understand the story behind the video. 3. Costumes and make-up are different in every type of video, from extreme to everyday, this helps to set the scene and help portray the story of the video better. 4. Many videos have dance routines in, but not all. Dancing can sometimes improve the quality of the video.

There are no rights and wrongs in a music video, most of the set up is down to the iconic style of an individual artist (such as Lady Gaga's outrageous style). In different genres there are different style, but music videos need to be diverse. The style of a good music video is down to individual taste.
A typical album cover consists of a main image, this is usually of the band/artist, or an iconic image that the audience will know which artist/band it relates to, again this helps build a strong portrayal. Secondly, a album cover always has the band/artists name on it, bands/artists usually use one font on all of their products to keep it professional, consistent and recognisable. In a smaller font, the name of the album is also present, this is to let the audience know which album it is, as there may be many. Finally, the use of a colour scheme is very important, to create a professional look
A typical poster consists of similar conventions to the CD cover. Everything is the same, but there are some added extra's. For a tour poster, tour dates and supporting acts are also included, this is to make the audience even more enticed to go and see the tour. For a CD release poster, comments from magazines and newspapers may be present.
